San Diego State University's Jobs Innovation and Accelerator Program will leverage a combination of experience, academic integrity, research facilities and natural resources to create a global impact on the development, demonstration, deployment and workforce training for renewable energy technologies
By taking advantage of our existing SDSU Brawley Campus in the Imperial Valley, and enthusiastic administrative and regional support, we are establishing a relevant physical site to perform commercial-scale proof-of-concept demonstrations, supported by multi-faceted commercialization support services, and targeted technical training curricula to create off-shore "proof" high-wage jobs.
By focusing our efforts on Imperial County (also referred to as the Imperial Valley), California, we will substantially improve the economic outlook of one of the most economically distressed regions on the country. In April, 2011, unemployment in the county was 27.9%, the highest in the country for any area with at least 50,000 people.
The strategic plan of SDSU and our partners is comprised of a multi-pronged approach that recognizes and attacks obstacles to the widespread adoption of renewable generation technologies on the technical, economic and education/training fronts.
